Update

This is the figure of the referee who led the Argentina vs Croatia match.

The referee for the 2022 World Cup semifinal match between Argentina and Croatia has reportedly been appointed by FIFA. Who will be the judges in the field later? Launching Sky Sports Italia, the referee who officiated the semifinal match was Daniele Orsato. The Italian referee is believed to be the referee for Lionel Messi et al. vs Luka Modric cs. at the Lusail Iconic Stadium, Wednesday (14/12) .

Orsato was previously entrusted with refereeing the opening match of the 2022 World Cup between hosts Qatar and Ecuador. Then, the 47-year-old referee also officiated Argentina's match in the group phase, against Mexico.

Orsato rested FIFA throughout the last 16 and quarter-finals before returning to take charge in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup.

For Daniele Orsato, he has only led Argentina once, namely in the last group phase. The match in the semifinals will be his second chance to referee an Albiceleste match.

Meanwhile, Orsato has led his team three times in those matches, with Croatia winning two and losing one.

The referee's own spotlight appeared after the quarter-finals were held. Lionel Messi had complained about the leadership of referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz who issued 17 yellow cards and one red card in the Netherlands vs Argentina match.

Then, the Portuguese defender, Pepe, also complained about the referee, Facundo Tello. Pepe insinuated that Argentina sided with Lionel Messi et al.

Meanwhile, for the other 2022 World Cup semifinal match which pitted France against Morocco, the FIFA website has not yet stated which referee will be on duty.
